Diablo Valley Literacy Council
Annual Holiday Potluck Luncheon
A most wonderful time of the year!

A wonderful time was had by all at the Holiday Party this year.  An extended warm ‘thank you’ to all tutors, students, board members and DVLC supporters who attended and made our party such a success.  As always, the food was delicious!   The dishes we shared were a fabulous array of main courses and treats that pleased our palates!   Time passed all too quickly with lively conversation and camaraderie.  Also, a special thanks to everyone who made such personal and unique contributions –the team effort came together and made for a memorable event.  Here is hoping that the holiday season is bright and brings plenty of good blessings to each and all in the coming year.

Follow Up Meeting of New Tutors

How inspiring to hear our new tutors relate their initial experiences with their ESL students. The tutor/student matching process seems to have been very effective for those who attended the November 5 meeting following the September/October Tutor Workshop.

Questions included when and how to correct the student's pronunciation without inhibiting the flow of conversation. Also, how to find books that are at the right reading level and can engage an adult reader.

Welcome to Our Freshly Redesigned Website!

We've recently moved our site to a new website platform. Our goal is to make better use of our website to distribute news and information more often and in a more timely manner. The new platform should help us do that better because it streamlines the process of posting information.

We hope you enjoy the new site.
