VOLUNTEERISM IS ALIVE AND WELL IN THE EAST BAY

For the first time ever, Diablo Valley Literacy Council had more people registering for our Tutor Training than we could accommodate in March!  Starting in November we received a steady flow of people contacting us because they were interested in tutoring adult English learners.  It is wonderful to see how many people are looking for ways to engage in civic activities.

Other non-profit organizations in the area are seeing a similar influx of volunteers. Gloria Gregory, Executive Director of CityServe of the Tri-Valley observes: "We have seen a greater volunteer spirit since January.  In Pleasanton we had the annual Make A Difference Day event at the library at which 25-30 non-profits had tables to promote their work and volunteer opportunities.  This is the 3rd or 4th year we have participated in this event, and this year many of us representing non-profits agreed there seemed to be more strong, direct interest in connecting to understand and commit to volunteering."

THIS IS HOW WE BUILD A COHESIVE SOCIETY

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS!
